High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

January trip report – Las Vegas

As I previously mentioned, Chuck and I decided we wanted to do some type of travel every month in 2026. So in January we found a good flight deal and hotel deal for Las Vegas. And since we had to cancel our December trip because of flight costs, this worked out great for us.

We arrived on Saturday fairly early, thanks to an early am flight out of Atlanta. Everything at the airport, including getting our suitcase, was seamless and we quickly hopped into a cab and made our way to the hotel. We knew our room wouldn’t be ready so early, so we dropped off the bag and walked around a little before settling into a seat at one of the bars for a cocktail.

To my surprise, the Cosmopolitan had a room ready for us around 10:30 am and after a mishap on my end with self-printing the room keys, I got that fixed at the front desk and we made our way to our room. The suite was really nice and we had a terrace with a lovely view of the mountains. It’s really our favorite view when we come to Vegas.

That day, we ate a late lunch at Brewdog and then watched some of the playoff games down at the Cosmo before heading to the room for an early night. We were beat from getting up in Atlanta at 4am for our early am flight.

We got up pretty early on Sunday and took a walk to the Bellagio to check out the Conservatory. It was awesome, as usual, and then we headed to the Linq to grab breakfast at Maxie’s Diner. Afterwards, we did some more walking before changing and hitting up Beerhaus for lunch and a couple of beers to watch the first football game. We then walked around some more and stopped at The Chandelier Bar to grab a few cocktails and watch some more football.

Then it was time to get ready and head to dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s Pub and Grill before hitting up the Blake Shelton concert at The Colosseum. I had seen Celine Dion there 21 years ago but forgot what a great concert venue this is. There is really no bad seat and the sound is absolutely incredible. Blake knows how to work a room and his voice is amazing. His band, though? They are incredible. We had a great time at the show. We weren’t expecting to go to a concert this trip, but I’m so glad we did.

On Monday, we did our normal Arts District run, and hit up Able Baker and Servehzah for some local brews and food. We really enjoy that area and the chill vibe around there. It’s pretty much a “must” for us when we hit Las Vegas.

Monday night, we decided Chuck needed a steak. We’ve had great experiences at Gallagher’s Steakhouse at New York, New York, so we made a reservation and headed that way for dinner. As usual, we were not disappointed. The service, the food, the wine, all of it was just fantastic. It is another place we will return to again. Why mess with something we like?

During our trip, we also grabbed breakfast and coffee at Illy and District Donuts at The Cosmo. And we did a little gambling, which was not very good to us on this trip. Maybe next time.

Overall, it was a quick, but fun trip that included some old spots that we enjoy and a few new spots. That’s kind of how we like to do Vegas.

Now it’s time to plan out our February trip or trips. Not sure what is in store just yet!

Grateful for our experiences
