High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

Sedona, Arizona — Would Recommend and Will Return

After months of planning a group trip to Sedona with my friends, it finally happened. I traveled there with 5 other girlfriends and spent a few days exploring an area that I have never been to before.

Unfortunately, the rain dampened some of our plans but it cleared up enough to enjoy one long hike, a couple of beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and lots of laughs with my longtime pals.

We rented a house since there were six of us in total, and we wanted the option to spread out. Plus, we hired a chef to cook for us one night. We also like to cook in the mornings since our breakfast and sleep patterns are so very different. This also allowed for us to have some laundry options and be able to spread out a bit. Normally, I’m a hotel girlie but this was the best option for this group of friends.

First off, the bad: the a/c did not work the first day/night and the management company of the Airbnb didn’t believe us and didn’t sent a repair team over until day 2. Plus, they didn’t offer a discount for night one, which also happened to be the hottest night of the stay! So yeah, that sucked. The hosts were not local and didn’t seem to understand why a bunch of women in their late 40s/early 50s had a problem with this.

The first full day we were there, it started storming, which changed our plans for a jeep tour of the area. But we pivoted and walked around the downtown area and got in a bit of shopping. We also were able to check out a local brewery and spend a lot of time together at the house that evening. the rain let up early so we were able to sit outside a lot that evening, which was nice.

On Saturday, we all went out for a hike. Some of us did a longer one and it was really amazing to see the views along the way. I skipped out on the very end of it, since it involved some climbing and I don’t really do heights. I’m a wimp, I know, but I also know my limits and enjoyed watching everyone there and taking pictures. We actually made it through the entire 4 plus hours of the hike before the next wave of rain hit, which I was very happy about!

That afternoon, I hung out at the house with a friend to watch football while the rest of our group went to one of the local spas for massages and relaxing. They said it was great and would highly recommend. My “spa” was football. 🙂

That evening was the chef and I would 100% do this again. It was a great way to learn about the local ingredients and what food is popular there, but also getting to know Chef Daron was really fun. He’s a great guy and gave us some really good insights into the area for any future trips.

On Sunday, some of the team did some healing exercises while I relaxed at the house and had some alone time. Then we met up for our Pink Jeep tour and finished the day with a sunset drink and then dinner at one of the top restaurants in town, Mariposa.

Overall, we crammed in a lot into our 3 full days in Sedona, although we wanted to get in more hiking and some pool time. But the weather just didn’t cooperate. However, I do want to go back and check out some things I saw while driving and walking around. I do think there is a lot to do there and look forward to getting in at least one more hike in the future!

So yes, Sedona, I will return and this time, I will definitely hotel it!
