Taking on New Adventures

I’ve long wanted to do a simple All-Inclusive Caribbean vacation with Chuck, and we finally made it happen in July 2024. We booked the all adult Sonesta resort at Maho Beach in Sint Maarten, which includes the offerings of the family resort on top of the adult-only pools, bars, and restaurants.

I had no idea what to expect, which is a little odd for me as I love researching where I’m traveling to and have ideas on what I want to do. But this trip was different. I knew Chuck was tired and mentally fried from working and traveling so much and I didn’t want him to feel “scheduled” during this trip. Plus, I was unsure of what to expect with the all-inclusive offerings since it had been over 20 years since I’d been to one.

Overall, that was a good move on my end. We got a lot of relaxation time, didn’t need to “book” any reservations for meals and were able to just make our plans last minute for almost everything we did.

Plus, we got a little rain and bad seas thanks to the hurricane that was about 500 miles south of us. So I would’ve been disappointed if I booked something on those days to explore and had to cancel or deal with the really crappy weather.

I definitely think we’ll be back and next time, I plan to either rent a car to drive around and check out the island or book us on a snorkel tour that takes us around the island. The water is too beautiful and I need to be in it!
