High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

Las Vegas, Again

For some reason, Las Vegas has become our happy place to travel to. We always find something fun to do, great food to eat and interesting places to hit for craft beer, cocktails or wine. We also manage to relax quite a bit since we aren’t into the club scene and aren’t big gamblers.

We figured we’d do a summer trip this year, so booked a room over July 4th weekend. However, when the NBA Summer League schedule was released, we changed our plans so we could attend a couple of games.

This turned out to be the best possible idea for us, as we got a chance to see the newest Pelicans play, meet some other fans and still enjoy the things we like about Vegas.

Although we got in on Saturday, we took it easy just hanging around our hotel area for the afternoon and evening. Sunday was a day of fun since we decided to take a long walk in the am then hit the bus towards the Arts District. We managed to hit all of the breweries in that are on Sunday and had some great beers and food. This has become one of our favorite areas of Vegas.

The week wasn’t all about fun, as both of us worked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We lucked out with our room and plenty of space for both of us to set up and work comfortably. We both managed to take off Thursday and Friday so we could spend more time walking around and checking out what was new.

The games were late enough in the afternoon that we were able to finish our work then head to the arena to check out the Pelicans on two days. After the Pels played, we headed back to the hotel and finished our evenings with a good dinner and some more walking.

Heading in for some Summer League Games

When we have been to Vegas in July, it’s normally crazy hot and dry. However, we experienced a short rain storm on Thursday afternoon. Chuck and I decided to hit the pool that afternoon for a little bit, and not 5 minutes after we set up under an umbrella, the rain came. At first it was light, but when we heard the thunder, decided to head back to the room. We watched the storm for a bit from our room and figured out our plans for the rest of the evening.

During pur trip, we managed to make it to a few restaurants we enjoy and tried a few new ones. As usual, I think we nailed it. Not a single bad meal on our trip. Plus, we got in some time at the Bellagio Conservatory to check out their latest amazing display.

Overall, we had a great time this trip. So much so that we booked a return trip in October to check out the Downtown Beer Festival again and do some more sightseeing.

I’ll have more from Vegas, including a review of the beer fest VIP experience, when we return.
