High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

How is this year half done?

It seemed like yesterday we were breathing a sigh of relief that 2020 was over. Although we were still in the midst of mask wearing and staying as far away from others as we could, we knew that 2021 brought a sense of hope.

This year has been busy. Between work travel for my husband and some tag along travel for me on top of working 6 days a week nearly every week, it’s been a nonstop whirlwind. We are doing our best to try to find some sense of normalcy but a regular schedule is not possible right now due to work schedules.

Overall, we’ve been able to see some family and friends that we’ve not seen in a while. Most recently, my bestie from college made her way to NOLA for a long weekend.

We had a great time catching up and I got to show her a lot of New Orleans that she hadn’t seen before. From some really cool bars to a few great restaurants and some exploring while walking and driving around, she was happy to be able to see so much of the city I’ve fallen in love with.

It’s weird that it took a friend coming into town for me to slow down a little but the visit did as much for me as I think it did for her. It was a good thing for me to slow down, even though we were really busy with shopping, eating, drinking and talking. But it wasn’t work and that was refreshing.

As we jump into the second half of the year, I’m looking forward to slowing down a little when possible while planning out some sort of true vacation for us.

Hanging out with my college bestie
