High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

Is it May already?

I looked up and it’s May. I know that sounds so odd because in one way, the past 14 months or so have seemed like the longest ever. But in another way, it’s as if time is flying by.

This year has brought on even more change, with Chuck traveling more for work and me not traveling at all for work. It’s odd, and quite frankly a huge adjustment for me, but gives me the chance to schedule out more fun trips as I try and tag along on some of his work adventures.

But back to May. Normally by this time, we’d have done Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, JazzFest and a bunch of various smaller events throughout the city leading up to Summer. However, we are still in pandemic land and there’s been no festival. Yet.

We did have the Zurich Classic and while it was definitely not as crowded as prior years, it was great being out at the golf tournament. It felt, dare I say it, normal. Yes, we still wore masks and yes I stayed as far away from crowds as I could. But it was fantastic being outside and taking in all of the sights and sounds of the golf tournament.

Overall, we’ve done it. We’ve made it over a year with the masks, regulations and other inconveniences that come with basically shutting down our lives in an effort to avoid getting Covid-19 or, even worse, spreading it.

So here we are in May. While it’s not the year we had hoped it’d be, it’s the year we were given. It’s been a struggle still, but we are seeing things slowly open up.

There’s a bit of a new way of life for Chuck and me, thanks to changes in our jobs. It’s giving us a bit of excitement and something to look forward to as the second half of the year approaches.

I need the year to slow down so we can enjoy the opportunities given to us through work, life and everything else thrown our way.
