I started off 2020 thinking I’d blog more. Honestly, my intentions were to get out more, explore more and travel more. And with that, I’d share my experiences for fun but also in hopes of letting people know the great places Chuck and I get to experience and encourage more people to get out and about.
It’s partly why I quit my job in January, so that I could take on some projects that allowed me to work on things I was passionate about and allow me the flexibility to do more with my time other than being in an office.
Oh how Covid has altered those plans something fierce!
As we are firmly in the second half of the year, there are still so many unknowns with this virus, which means there are so many unknowns about our future.
I had high hopes for the second part of the summer and the Fall. I planned to travel more, relax a bit more and cleanse my mind. I had hoped to build my side business of helping small businesses build their brands and execute great traditional and social media presence without having to hire someone super expensive. That’s still my goal, but it is definitely looking more and more like 2021 will be here before I can really get some footing there.
Chuck and I still try to get out of the house as much as we can. We make attempts at eating out once a week, always at restaurants we have been to before and those who adhere to the masking and social distancing policies. I have walked out of one before we even sat down and will definitely do so again if it doesn’t feel safe!
We continue to try and get out to walk or ride bikes and I have been hitting my gym classes a few times a week. It gives me a sense of normalcy and while working out with a mask on isn’t ideal, it’s better than not working out at all! And, quite frankly, I’m getting used to it.
We also have some trips on the books for the next couple of months. Again, it’s to places we’ve been before and ones we’ve kept up with regarding their safety protocols. However, if it appears things tick up again and people aren’t adhering to the mandates for masks and social distancing, I’ll cancel. As much as I want to travel, I want to be safe. And while I do the right things, not everyone does and in a normal time, that makes me nervous and angry. But in this time, I’m really trying to limit my exposure to stupidity.
So away we trudge, kind of on a hamster wheel with a daily routine. As August rolls on, I am going to make a point of getting out more, even if it’s just a walk around the Quarter or my neighborhood. And who knows, maybe I’ll discover something new and interesting that I can share with you!
