High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

Working at the beach, and not hating it

I had the opportunity to go with Chuck and some friends to Gulfport to check out a condo this past weekend. It sounded great. I am 100% on board hitting any place where there is a water view and a pool to cool off in. But the problem was, I was scheduled to work all but one day of the trip.

I’m not going to lie and say it was all great and dandy, but working at the beach beats working at home any day. I set up my computer in the living room with our floor to ceiling windows and got to working. About mid way through the day, I ventured down to the pool in hopes of hotspotting my phone so I could work for an hour or so. However, the phone signal in that area was bad and didn’t work. And the condo association had turned off the guest wifi during the pandemic and hadn’t turned it back on yet.

Since plan 1 didn’t work, I made my way back to the condo and set up shop on the patio. The breeze, the smell of salt air and the quiet was just what I needed to get through a crazy day that stretched an additional 2 hours due to breaking news.

Working from home full time is still very new to me, even though I’m about 5 months into this new journey. But I honestly don’t think I’d be good at working from a home office with no one around. I generally try to hit a coffee shop or the lobby of the hotel below our apartment for a time just for a change of scenery.

That’s why this weekend was great and even though I couldn’t participate in all the fun everyone else was having, I didn’t mind as much since I was nearby.
