Have you ever had a year where you weren’t unhappy, but you weren’t satisfied either? Welcome to 2019 for me. It’s not that anything was really wrong, other than my Gramma dying right after Thanksgiving. That really sucked.
But it got me thinking, what do I do that makes me happy? The list is long, for sure, but one of the things I really enjoy is going to Pelicans games. And while working in sports was always a dream of mine that I was able to achieve a little during my TV career, I never really thought at the age of 45 an opportunity would present itself for me to get involved again.
How wrong I was! I found a rare opportunity to contribute posts to Pelican Debrief, which is a fan blog hosted by FanSided. It has given me the opportunity to flex a little of my journalism muscle but also have fun posting about a team that is exciting and on the upswing.
Is it a challenge? Absolutely. I write for fun on this blog and know it’s not professional or even grammatically correct at times. So to do something that is still fun but needs to have all of the t’s crossed and i’s dotted is a challenge. It’s one I’m certainly up for.
That leads me to what’s next in 2020. Lots of change is going to happen. It’s inevitable and some is already in process. But I’m excited to tackle anything that comes my way and find more joy in what I’m doing both personally and professionally.
Based on what my friends have said, this year is definitely a year of change. But it’s not necessarily making big changes but more of changing thinking, changing habits and changing small things to allow you to enjoy the happy times more.
What makes you happy and what are you doing to contribute more to your overall happiness? I’d love to hear more!!
