It’s no secret that I enjoy the Mississippi coast. It’s not as crowded as the AL or FL coasts and Chuck and I always seem to find something fun and interesting to do. Plus, it’s close enough to make it there quickly and not waste hours in traffic.
We decided a few weeks before Labor Day that we both needed to get away and researched some various options that were close. After looking at everything, including our budget, we decided a trip to Biloxi from Sunday through Tuesday was the best option for us. We found a decent rate at the Beau Rivage and since we hadn’t stayed there in a while, we decided to splurge a little.
Our drive over on Sunday was very relaxed and we were able to cruise along the coast and see the sights. We stopped for breakfast at this cute bagel shop in Slidell, grabbed a coffee to go and hit the road. We managed to stop a few times to walk around and check out some areas we’d not seen before and then made our way to the Beau around lunchtime.
Recently, due to the addition of sports book gambling, the Beau upgraded their sports bar so we had to check it out! Tap is a great place to watch a game (or 100) and grab a drink and some food. It was really fun seeing all of the options available to watch sports while having a great bite.
After a little time at the pool, we got ready and hit the couple of breweries still open in the area. We made it back for a great dinner at Stalla. At the end of the night, it felt like we’d been there for days, not just most of one day.
Monday was spent walking around and checking out the area, grabbing breakfast and spending some much-needed relaxing time at the pool. The crowd had thinned, even though it was a holiday, and there was no DJ. Unfortunately, the lightening came and we had to head back inside. But another dinner at Tap, and a lot of people watching, capped off a really relaxing Labor Day.
We managed to go to the pool again on Tuesday morning before heading to Shaggy’s for a late lunch and hitting the city before rush hour. The 3 days out of New Orleans were welcome, as we didn’t have to worry about doing anything around the house or with work. Every now and then, it’s the mental break that is needed and helps power us through the next stretch of life.
