I got extremely lucky in New York, and thanks to Heather Jones, met some amazing friends. This group has been through a lot together and one consistent is that we are there for each other.
Earlier in 2019, Amy Hayes, a member of our group got married. A small wedding happened and a few months later, the entire gang gathered together at Amy’s family cottage in the Berkshires to celebrate.
While our travel to and from the area was a tad difficult thanks to weather delays, a lost suitcase and lack of sleep, we certainly made the most of the 3 days in Western Mass. And the minute we pulled up to the cottage, we definitely knew it was worth every struggle.
Catching up with these longtime friends, and the “plus ones” as I dubbed them, was long overdue. But we got right back in to whenever the last time we saw each other. And while we are all getting older and are evolving in life, the friendships that started 15 plus years ago (and longer, in some cases) are still just as strong.
The weekend involved a lot of wine and beer, great food and fantastic weather. We sat outside and a few of us jumped in the pond for a swim or cool down.
The best part of the weekend was being with my gang and the beautiful and serene location definitely was worth the travel headaches we had getting there. I’m already counting down the days until our next gathering.
