I always enjoy checking out the new restaurants and bars in the city, especially the ones that are owned by smaller groups or individuals. This weekend provided a great opportunity to hit quite a few of the newer spots in the city.
Chuck and I started our Friday at Brady’s Wine Warehouse for a beer tasting with Parish Brewing. While not new, it’s been a while since we’ve done any of the tastings here. It won’t be long before we go to another one. What a great experience! And Anne, who was the rep from Parish, was so great. Our only complaint was that some of the really awesome beers we tasted weren’t for sale at the warehouse. But we get it and it’s just an incentive to hit the brewery soon.
Saturday evening, we got a little dressed up and walked over to Sofia, one of the newer Italian restaurants in the city. We sat at the bar where we could watch the kitchen and we had a ball. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed our meals. And we really enjoyed watching the chefs work their magic.
We hopped to a few bars before ending our night at Bar Marilou. The new bar at the Maison de la Luz hotel was definitely one of the trendier ones we’ve been to in a while. With the all red decor, super cool seating and mix of locals and visitors to the city, this bar is definitely one we’ll try again.
On Sunday, we kept it going by hitting a few of our favorites and trying out the new wine bar on St. Claude, The Domino. The space is really interesting and it’s a bar that I think will thrive with the locals. We then made our way to Bonci, the newest pizza joint in town. Cutting your slices with scissors, weighing your pizza and then heating it up in the flash oven made for a really interesting dinner. Every slice we had was great and we are looking forward to heading back there to try some new flavors.
I’d say it was a super successful weekend of new and old. And I’m already counting the days until our next great adventure in the city.
