Errands and last minute home stuff was on the agenda this past weekend. But it also lead to some great restaurant discoveries.
After a tough workout on Friday, I showered and Chuck and I decided to head out and get some stuff done. After a few stops, we ended up at Cask, a new(ish) wine bar in MidCity. We had some really good wine and a nice conversation. Then we ended up at Vessel for dinner. We’ve been wanting to try this out for a bit and Friday night seemed like the perfect time.
Dinner was fantastic and only beat out by the enthusiasm and genuine friendliness by the staff. We really enjoyed it and are looking forward to going back and trying more of the fantastic menu.
Saturday started with a workout then more errands. We made our way down Magazine to try Red Dog Diner again. But, due to the overwhelming crowds and fact that I was so hungry, ditched that idea quickly and made our way across the street to The Vintage. I’m so glad we did! What a great place.
We started with a mix of the mini-beignets before trying out our brunch dishes. The bar was a great place to sit and outside of the parents who decided to let their kids scream and run wild while they finished their cocktails, the entire vibe was great. We definitely will be back, and maybe for dinner or later in the evening in hopes of avoiding screaming kids.
We ended Saturday with dinner at Irene’s to celebrate my uncle’s wedding. It was a great meal and a perfect place for a celebration.
Sunday started off with more errands and we hit Francesca’s by Katie’s on Harrison for a quick lunch of pizza and a breakfast sandwich. Chef Scot definitely has his mojo going with this place and I’m looking forward to coming back and trying a sandwich or po boy.
So for a weekend with very little on the agenda outside of “getting things done”, we managed to try out 3 new restaurants and hit a couple of favorites as well.
