Taking on New Adventures

It’s been a couple of weeks since the Nyx Myx ball and I am still glowing from how much fun we had! It’s my 4th ball and this one was the best, by far.

The black and white theme, announced last summer, was a little difficult as I had bought a dress last Spring that I was so excited to wear. But it was light blue and wouldn’t work. So back to the drawing board, I found a reasonably priced dress in all black with some embellishments around the neck. Approved for the ball, I decided to just go with it.

But then entered the problem: it didn’t hide one thing! So I amped up the workouts and did my best to cut back on calories so that I didn’t look like a black blob in my dress. Fortunately it worked out and with the help of Spanx, I felt like I looked good.

Chuck and I got ready early, meeting up with our friends at 445pm to grab our table and start the fun. Having to be masked up until after 9pm wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. We made it through the pre-party and then the presentation of float lieutenants, the captain and Goddess Nyx took place. There were lots of laughs and cheers during the presentation, especially for our float lieutenant, Kara.

Finally, masks were removed and dinner was served. Our server was fantastic and super helpful. It was his first event at the Convention Center and we couldn’t have asked for a more fun and engaging server. He was dancing along to the music and always had a smile on his face. He also made sure we were hydrated, which was key for an almost 10 hour night in the Convention Center!!!

After dinner ended, the music started. The boys went and grabbed some bourbon and the ladies started the dancing. Then the band took the stage, and the fun kicked in! All of us jumped in and danced the night away singing along to some of our favorites. From the band to the DJ, all the best songs were played and we definitely made the most of the ones we loved the most. We were there so late that we participated in the breakfast buffet that was put out around 1:30 am!

Finally, Chuck and I hit our wall and left around 2:30 am. We had a blast and were so glad we went. It’s always fun dressing up and we do it well, I think!
