Every now and then, Chuck and I get an invite to some special event and when we arrive, we often ask ourselves “how the heck did we get invited to this”. That happened this Monday when we were invited to a Krug Champagne tasting. Not sure what to expect, we made our way to Emeril’s Delmonico after work for a night of unknown adventure.
To say this went well beyond expectations is a vast understatement. Not only were we able to taste some super unique vintages from the Krug family, we had the US ambassador for the winery, Garth Hodgdon, at the event. His explanations of how the champagne came to be was fascinating and he was quite funny during his presentation. I think all 20 of us there were entertained by his stories and also thrilled with the deep dive into why this vineyard is consistently ranked as one of the best for champagne.
Although we were both kind of pooped from the weekend, I’m so glad we were able to go to this awesome event. We got to meet some awesome people that we are sure to see at other events in the future. Plus, we walked away with two bottles of champagne that will come in handy on special occasions. Bonus that we got a small discount on them, as this isn’t your average grocery store bottle!
One of those New Orleans nights that just happens and ends up awesome.
