High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

August was a busy month

It’s September. Really? Where did August go? This past month was crazy on a ton of levels. From the final planning details for the conference in Austin that started August 26 to having an employee leave the week of the actual conference and ending with a somewhat last minute long weekend in Vegas, these past 6 weeks have been nothing short of nutty.

August started with working on our conference program book and finalizing details for the conference while dealing with the late July surgery to remove suspected skin cancer (it’s not, thank goodness). During all of the crazy work days, I was dealing with an infection on my arm thanks to the over abundance of skin glue used when the nurse took my stitches out.

The infection was slow to heal, and while I was dealing with that, work was heating up with more last minute details for our conference. In the midst of it all, our colleague up and walked out one day, quitting the next. While not much of a surprise, she really didn’t seem to like working there, the timing really sucked. A lot of the assignments she had didn’t get done correctly so that added work to the plates of the 3 of us left.

We made it, though, and the conference ran fairly smoothly. The outside issues didn’t and that is a blog for another day, but the actual event, while nutty, was great. And exhausting. So I got back home and the next day, Chuck and I flew to Vegas.

We ended the month of August roaming around the city, looking for the best happy hour specials and places to watch the first weekend of college football. It was a pretty chill weekend that saw us getting in a ton of steps, sitting at the pool in the mornings, moseying around to some spots we’ve yet to check out and noshing our way through the day. We had a blast and it doesn’t matter how many times we go, are always mesmerized by the Bellagio fountains!

So now we are in September and “Fall”, or just 85 degree weather in NOLA instead of 95. Let’s see what it brings!
