Ever have that week where you just want to spend the weekend hanging with your sidekick? You know what I mean, that week where it’s not super stressful, but you are just kind of pooped with cleaning the house, taking care of chores and errands? Just with basic life. Welcome to my past couple of weeks.
Nothing is bad. Nothing is crazy. It’s just mid-year and there’s tons to do around home that isn’t urgent but needs to be done. Our schedules for work and for personal life are jammed and while we aren’t crazy busy, it still gets to be a lot when you just want to chill.
Last weekend, we made the decision to just do things together. No friends. No family. No outside distractions. Just us doing exactly what we wanted to do, when we wanted to. I think it’s super healthy to do something like this. I also think it keeps our relationship fun on top of giving us the alone time that’s necessary to build our relationship.
After a chill Friday night with Happy Hour Tacos at Johnny Sanchez, we got some much needed sleep before venturing to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the day.
The first stop we made was Lazy Magnolia Brewery and after a couple of taster beers, we made our way to Gulfport. There, we made a stop at Chandeleur Brewery. After tasting a few of their newer brews, we snacked on a sandwich and filled up Chuck’s growler to bring home.
We decided to drive down the coast back towards New Orleans and check out the beautiful homes. Following along with the app showing the houses for sale, we were amazed at how much is available along that stretch of coastline. Some were way beyond our budget but we definitely enjoyed daydreaming about owning one of those homes.
We stopped at Bacchus on the Beach for a snack and lucked out since it was still happy hour and they had 1/2 price oysters! Definitely did not want to turn that down. We made a leisurely drive down the rest of the Mississippi Coast before heading back into the Crescent City. Chuck had one more surprise up his sleeve, and stopped at Effervescence for a glass of bubbly. A couple of half glasses later, full on pommes frites and popcorn, we made our way home for a decent night’s sleep.

Sunday found us up and at ’em early as we made our way to Manning’s to catch the World Cup final. It was a blast watching the game there and I’m so glad we got there early enough for a good seat. We then walked over to the Rusty Nail for a quick drink before walking under the bridge to Courtyard Brewery to see what they had out.
After heading across town to Brieux Carre for a taste of their newest brew, we walked into the Quarter for dinner at Italian Barrel. We then hopped over to Harrah’s to score some more Tier Credits before heading home.
It all sounds like a lot, and it was, but we love being busy. We also really enjoyed spending 2 full days together, just the two of us. It was nice to talk, catch up, discuss things we wanted to do over the next year or so and just be in each other’s company. We were able to hit places we liked together on top of some of my faves and his. And that’s exactly how we enjoy life.
