Ahhhhh… Las Vegas. It’s a city that both Chuck and I really enjoy going to. Sure, we play a few slots here and there but we really love walking around and checking out the various hotels and casinos. But even more than that is the food. We love checking out the various restaurants that Vegas has to offer. From the high-end, celeb driven restaurants to the random places we happen to stop in for a bite that turns out to be excellent, there are no shortages in the food options.
We needed a week away, so we decided to head out west over the week of July 4th. We lucked out on the way out there with upgrades on both flights. Landing in Vegas early (1030am), we managed to get into a cab quick and to the hotel by 11am. We were able to get into our room early and head out to explore.
Our first stop was Yard House. Chuck loves the beer selection here and I can always find something somewhat healthy to eat. After we fueled up, we did a little walking and napped before getting ready for dinner at Mesa Grill. I’ve been here before but he hadn’t, so I made a reservation for us to have a great first night dinner. We were note disappointed! The steak and the chili relleno were outstanding, and the side of cilantro-pesto potatoes topped it off. I’m really glad we were able to go.
Another highlight was hitting Lagasse’s Stadium, Emeril’s sports bar at the Palazzo. We watched the England-Colombia game there. It was an amazing sports bar! The food was good and there were TVs for days. Walking back, we hit Public House in the Venetian for a beer (or a flight for Chuck). It was a cool spot that we plan to check out again. Dinner was at one of the local Mexican restaurants. It was just enough to be a great end to a fun day.
On Wednesday, after checking out Fremont Street and the Outlet Mall, we made our way to Giada for dinner. That may have been the best meal I’ve ever had in Vegas. The pasta was outstanding, the meat & cheese plate to start was unbelievable and the dessert (sorbetti & gelato) topped off our wonderful July 4th meal. So much so that we had to do a ton of walking afterwards to try and work off everything we ate!

Our last day had us doing more walking and exploring before going to the Tilted Kilt for a quick lunch. This pub and sports bar on The Linq Promenade has really good food. And the atmosphere is really cool. I’d definitely come back to watch a game or two. We ended the day with a dinner at Spago. The meal was good but we were so tired that we didn’t enjoy it as much as we would earlier in the week.

It was a great week. I’m glad we were able to check out a bunch of new spots and we definitely got our steps in again! I’m looking forward to another trip soon, so that we can try some more awesome restaurants.
