It’s not everyday you win a silent auction item that is worth way more than you paid. But that happens from time to time. Luckily, Chuck and I won tickets to the Friday round for the 2018 Zurich Classic at Hogs for the Cause. It is a great charity, helping families of pediatric brain cancer patients, and even though I am on a cooking team that raises money, I always try to do more. Participating in the auction was one way to help raise more money and luckily, we won!
On Friday, we made our way across the bridge to TPC Louisiana to check out one of the hottest PGA tour stops. The Zurich Classic features teams of two and the team format creates a super fun atmosphere for the fans and the players.
Our tickets to the Acme Oyster House offered us a chance to check out the greens of 13 and 14 and all of 17. We always tend to hang out around hole 17 since it’s a par 3 and we can see everything there. So on Friday, after walking around, checking out several different groups and grabbing some drinks and food at Acme, we decided to check out a few groups on 17. I’m glad I did because I finally saw a hole-in-one in person!
Billy Hurley III offered up one of the coolest moments I’ve seen. And the best part was that he didn’t seem to know that he did it until the crowd went crazy. His walk up 17 was just fun. It seemed as if he soaked it all in and enjoyed every second of it. There was a definite buzz in the crowd and although Hurley didn’t make the cut for weekend play, it was a moment I’m sure he’ll remember as well!
I’m so glad Chuck and I were able to be there for that rare moment. And one thing is for sure, I may never witness a hole-in-one again.
