It’s no secret that one of my favorite things to do on the weekends is walk and bike around the city, checking out new places and a few favorites. Chuck and I did just that and it was probably one of the more relaxing weekends we’ve had in New Orleans in a while.
We made zero plans to start. Zero. Everything was last minute and spontaneous. It started Friday night with a last minute date night to Domenica. One of my favorite restaurants, it’s been a while since we’ve been able to go. But it was as good as ever. We enjoyed taking our time through our meal and chatting about the week and what we wanted to do in the next couple of months.
We were able to sleep in on Saturday a bit, which was much needed for both of us! And since the storms passed through earlier than the forecasts said, we decided to get the bikes out and do a little bar hopping for National Beer Day. We started at Urban South to try a few of their brews and made our way to Courtyard Brewery to try out their newest options. Friends met us at Courtyard and we stayed a bit longer than planned. But it was well worth it.
Afterwards, we decided to try out the newest food hall in the city, Auction House Market. We had both heard great things about it and were not disappointed. We were both pleasantly surprised at how many great options were available and made our way to 3 different stalls and the bar. We really enjoyed everything about it. So much so, that we ended up stopping by for coffee Sunday morning!
On Sunday, we met up with some friends for a little champagne prior to our brunch reservation at Vyoone’s. After our great brunch, we decided to hit up NOSH to watch the Masters and chill out. They had some great specials and it was a nice relaxing afternoon. Walking home, we made a stop at the bar at Cambria Hotel and then popped into Loa at International House for a couple of cocktails. Sunday night ended with a steak at home and more relaxing.
It was just a great weekend filled with good food, good drinks, great friends and no pressure. Leading into “festival season”, that’s exactly what Chuck and I needed!
