High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

Back to the work travel life

When I left CNN, I also left a life of work travel. And while I needed the break from the “one way” tickets and the uncertainty of how long I’d be gone, I really missed the opportunity to check out areas of the country (and world) that I wouldn’t otherwise go to.

Fast forward 4 1/2 years, and I’m back in the work travel game. Just a few weeks into my new role at ARB Meetings, I flew to Atlanta for a site visit for a conference we are managing in 2019. To say it was a different experience from the old CNN travel days is a vast understatement.

It was busy, no doubt, but touring a hotel, talking about the possibilities for meeting space, breakout session options and where we’ll set up meals was very interesting and kept me on my toes. The only drawback to a trip like this is that I had zero free time to visit my ATL gang. So guys, I’m sorry, but I’ll be back soon!!!

One of the cool perks to this trip was that both of the hotels I stayed in were pretty large and I was able to score rooms on higher floors. That gave me a great view of the city I used to call home and I’m looking forward to the return trips to finalize this conference.

The best part of traveling for work now? I know exactly when I’m coming home and that makes it easier for us to plan our lives. And that makes me happy. Looking forward to the next work trip!
