Last night, I got the last minute chance to check out my Crimson Tide in action at the Sugar Bowl/College Football Playoff. I was hesitant to go, since the past 2 Sugar Bowl experiences haven’t been kind to my heart (with 2 losses) or my wallet (those tickets are expensive!). But I couldn’t pass up the chance, even if I only had 1 ticket. So I went. And boy, am I glad.
I was lucky enough to have great seats and even better that the people around us were pretty cool. Well, except when the die hard Clemson fan decided the Da’Ron Payne interception was a “fluke”. Um, yeah, no. Not a fluke. Anymore than the fumble on Jalen Hurts was a fluke. I tried to point that out to him but he was so incensed by the lack of calls on Alabama in the game (while ignoring the same lack of calls on Clemson) that he huffed his losing butt on out of the ‘dome. However, the others around us were pretty interesting to talk to and discuss the game. And what a game it was.
By no means, was Alabama perfect. But they did enough on offense to win and everything on defense to keep the Tigers out of the end zone. And even when Clemson would make a good offensive play, which they were going to do, the D kept at it and continued the relentless pounding. It was my favorite kind of football game. The lines dominating the line of scrimmage and some hard tackling.
I’m so glad I got the chance to go and was super loud during Rammer Jammer at the end of the game. Now time to focus. We have another one that’s even bigger to play on Monday! Roll Tide!
