As the week began, the National Hurricane Center had a system deep in the Caribbean that it was monitoring. Fast forward to mid week and it was clear that this system would develop into something a tad more serious….and it had its sights set on New Orleans.
This sucks anytime of the year. But especially this week. You see, Chuck and I had a Friday morning flight booked to New York to see one of my (and now our) great friends tie the knot.
Paul is a special guy and one of my “people” from my New York days. He and Sarah started dating right around the time I moved to New Orleans, but I’ve been fortunate enough to get to know her over the past 4 years.
Chuck and I hung out with the two of them several times and stayed in touch through the power of social media. And we were so excited to spend the weekend celebrating their union.
Only Mother Nature had other plans. Thanks to his role at the hotel, Chuck had no choice but to stay in NOLA and ride out the storm. So we worked on getting a flight credit for his ticket and I headed Northeast.
It sucks going to events like weddings without your significant other. But I was fortunate to have my people there with me and that eased my disappointment a bit. On top of that, Paulie and Sarah were glowing and that made me so happy.
Most of the Team was able to come and we caught up on life’s first shared some laughs and lots of hugs alongside some great food and wine. So even though I resorted to my single days with the travel, it was all good as I had my Team with me. And I managed to blow up Chuck’s phone with photos and tidbits about the night.
Congratulations to my great friends, Paul and Sarah!
