High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

We came, we jogged (and walked), we conquered

Being active in the city is sometimes hard. Between working long hours and meeting up for drinks and dinner, it sometimes feels like there is no time to exercise. So when the registration opened for the Saints 5K a few months ago, I immediately signed up with the knowledge that I finish what I start.

I did some of the training suggested by my Sansung S Health app. And it wasn’t easy. Some days were much harder than others. But I managed to do the suggested runs and walks and felt good about this past Saturday.

Chuck and I got there early and stood towards the back of th starting corral. I’m not kidding anyone by thinking I would be fast. But I had a goal, albeit a simple one. Cut time off the first 5K we did in April. So away we went.

I’m not a runner. Never had been. But I wanted to run as much of the course as possible. And while I walked more than I ran, Chuck and I managed to carve out some blocks to jog and keep up a good pace. The end of the race saw us in a 40 yard sprint to cross the 50 at the Superdome. And it was crazy fun!

At the end of the race, we both cut 3 1/2 minutes off our first 5K. We felt good and were happy to get in a good workout. It lingered into Sunday where we both did our normal weekend workouts. And now it’s time o keep the momentum up and sign up for our next 5K.
