There is no shortage of outdoor activities in New Orleans. One I don’t take enough advantage of often enough is riding my bike to restaurants and bars. But Sunday found Chuck and I biking around the area and making some “hydration” stops along the way.
Riding from the Warehouse District, through the Quarter with a quick work stop for Chuck, then along Crescent Park and making pit stop number 1 at Bacchanal, our morning started off great. While at Bacchanal, we ran into a friend and former neighbor and ended up with another bottle of sparkling rose alongside some great conversation.
Our next stop found us around the corner at Parleaux Brewery. One of the city’s newer breweries, we were all very fond of the 5 oz pours. Just enough to get a good beer taste but not overdo it on the overall consumption.
After that, we rode the half mile to Bratz Y’all, a new German biergarten in the Bywater. This place is very cool and while we only had the pretzel, we definitely will head back there to try some of the other German-inspired dishes.
Hopping the bikes again, we cruised to the Marigny to hit Brieux Carre, another one of the newer breweries in the city. They’ve already expanded their outdoor area and we enjoyed talking with one of the owners about the brewery and its plans for the future.
The final leg brought us back home. Our 8 hour adventure was just another one of the many reasons I love living in New Orleans. Exploring the city by bike is awesome and we were able to burn off some of the calories we drank at our many pit stops.
Hydration is key when biking around on a hot day:
