I have only recently gotten into the craft beer scene, and New Orleans has certainly upped its game in that department. I’ve always had Abita Beer when coming to the city and now that I live here, have branched out to enjoy the other breweries in the city and surrounding areas.
I’m constantly in awe of the interesting flavors these brewers come up with and even more intrigued by how they design their tap rooms, beer gardens and more. Each one is so unique yet they all possess that casual and chill atmosphere that I latch on to. And each brewery does an awesome job of hosting events throughout the year. Chuck and I try to attend all of them, even if for a few minutes.
On Thursday, Courtyard Brewery held its first ever Louisiana Hop Fest. Showcasing several new (and updated versions of their old) hoppiest beers alongside selections from breweries in Louisiana and beyond, the festival had a great vibe and even better turnout. From the cool rotation of local bands to a glass blower making some awesome beer and wine glasses to the food options ranging from pop ups and local food truck favorites, the festival had it all. And while there were some hiccups, some seen and some I’m sure we never saw, I think this is the first of many to come for Courtyard.
So as we barrel into the summer months, the New Orleans beer scene is booming and we are looking forward to checking out the newest members of the craft beer community.
Cheers, y’all!
