High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

A NOWFE fan

In the nearly 3 years I’ve been living in NOLA, I’ve heard of NOWFE but was always out of town when it took place. This year, I didn’t leave town and got a chance to participate in a couple of events. And they certainly won’t be my last.

Thursday night found us at Kingfish for a phenomenal dinner paired with wines from Browne Family Vineyard. The food was top notch and the wine pairings were perfect. We found some new wines we need to buy as well.

Saturday night was the Grand Tasting at the Convention Center. Hundreds of people gathered in Hall B to sample food from the area’s top chefs and sip on over 1000 wine selections. It was awesome. I didn’t have a bad or even “eh” dish. In fact, I really couldn’t pick a favorite as everything I tried was outstanding.

The wines were all really great, too. I sampled rose, proseco, Pinot noir, cab franc, and more. While some weren’t my style, I’m glad I tried them all. I always enjoy finding new wines that I would never have bought on my own.

I’ve heard from others who regularly go that this year’s tasting didn’t have as many wine offerings, but for me, I thought it was awesome. The lines weren’t long and I could tell that the people working were enjoying themselves.

It was a great weekend of NOWFE events and I look forward to attending next year. It’s just one more reason to love living in NOLA.
