Taking on New Adventures

I’ve never been one to publicly volunteer. I like donating money, talking up the non-profits I love and using my skills and contacts to help produce CNN Heroes. But I spent Monday, MLK Day, digging up a field to help a local school plant their own vegetables. This helps the students learn more about what they eat and will hopefully enable them to grow up with healthy eating habits. The work was hard and days later, I’m still sore. But I’m glad I did it and hope it helped the overall mission of the school.
I’m really glad I work for a company that encourages, without pushing, volunteerism.
