High above the clouds, ready to explore the world

Thanksgiving in New Orleans

Holidays in this city are unique.  And part of the uniqueness is the mix of tourists and locals who venture out to eat and explore on those days.  Thanksgiving was no different, and this year I decided to take it all in by staying in New Orleans.  A morning bike ride through the Quarter brought some chilly winds and a good bit of exercise.  Cafe Du Monde was packed, as usual, and there were tons of photos being taken around Jackson Square.  Late lunch at Tableau gave me the opportunity to get back to the Quarter to check out the afternoon scene and while it was much quieter than normal, it definitely had a great vibe.  Musicians still played on Royal Street, bars were still open and while the artists weren’t out in force in Jackson Square, there were still a few people set up to try and make a few bucks on their talents.  Lunch was fabulous and the staff was not only friendly but they also seemed to enjoy being there, as much as one could enjoy working on a holiday.  I’m happy I made the decision to stick around the city and also get out for a bit that day.
